Do I need a website to use BotChap?
No. BotChap works without a website. On every paid plan, each chatbot gets a unique QR code and a direct link. Share the link in your Instagram bio, WhatsApp, or email signature, or print the QR code and tape it to your door, van, or business card.
How does appointment booking work?
Your AI chatbot collects the client's availability and contact details, confirms the booking, and notifies you. No phone calls, no back-and-forth. Appointment Booking is available on Growth and Scale.
What is the Knowledge Base feature?
The Knowledge Base lets you upload documents or crawl web pages. Your AI learns your prices, services, FAQs, and availability, and answers client questions directly from your own content.
Is the free plan really free?
Yes. The free plan lets you build and embed a styled chat widget with BotChap branding. Knowledge Base and AI Assistant require Starter or higher.
Can I use my own AI backend (n8n, OpenAI, Flowise)?
Yes. BotChap connects to n8n webhooks, OpenAI (Chat & Assistants API), Flowise, Dify, LangChain, Voiceflow, WooCommerce, Shopify, and any custom REST API.
Is it secure?
Yes. Our Managed Mode proxies all requests through our servers, keeping your backend URLs and credentials completely hidden from the browser.
Can BotChap answer my WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger messages?
Yes. On Growth and Scale you connect your WhatsApp Business number, or your Facebook Page and Instagram professional account, in a few clicks. Your AI then answers messages from the same knowledge base as your website chat, and can take bookings in the conversation.
Can customers send a photo?
Yes, on any paid plan. Turn on File Upload in the widget settings and customers can send a photo in your website chat, or in WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. The AI describes the photo, answers from your content, and only keeps the text description, not the photo.
What happens if someone sends abusive messages?
Your AI replies once, calmly, and flags the message for you. A second abusive message ends that chat, so you are never billed for it. Customers who are just frustrated about a real problem still get help.
